Artist's Statement

My training as an abstract expressionist is evidenced in my paint application and my sense of scale and color. Feeling the need to master drawing, I began to introduce realistic images into my work. I currently take these realistic images and abstract the qualities of shape, color, scale and light. I use various subjects that interest me and create large watercolors using, at times, colored pencil to produce the desired effect. I perceive my work as abstract, using images as a secondary consideration.
